We are a progressive local government authority employing approximately 150 dedicated employees.

The Opportunity

Both roles are part of our Development and Compliance group, which oversees a range of services, including development assessment, compliance, building certification, and environmental health.

The Team Leader Building and Public Health reports to the Group Leader Development and Compliance and is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team. This including managing building certification, public health services, and fast-track development applications, as well as fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across the team. We are looking for candidates with tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying, extensive experience in building certification, and proven leadership skills. Experience in local government or similar environments in highly regarded.

The Building Surveyor supports the Team Leader by carrying out building inspections, assessing applications, and ensuring compliance with legislation. This role is essential in maintaining high standards for safety and sustainability across our community. We are looking for candidates with current registration or very near obtaining eligibility for registration with NSW Fair Training as a Building Surveyor, plus experience in building compliance and a sound understanding of relevant legislation.

You’ll also require excellent communication and negotiation skills, the ability to provide exceptional customer service, and the capacity to manage competing priorities while maintaining professionalism at all times.
